AC Milan will bid for Manchester United defender Vidic

According to the Daily Star, AC Milan have made Manchester United centre-back Nemanja Vidic their top transfer target this summer.

There has been speculation over Vidic’s Old Trafford future for much of the season following rumours of a disagreement with Sir Alex Ferguson and frustration over Vidic’s injury problems.  However, the Serbian defender has still managed to play 24 games for Manchester United this season, scoring one goal.

According to the Daily Star, Italian giants AC Milan are desperate to sign a quality defender to partner Thiago Silva.  They are believed to be searching for long-term replacements for aging defenders such as Alessandro Nesta and Vidic is the top priority.  Manchester United target Simon Kjaer , currently at Palermo is reportedly AC Milan ’s fall back option.

The Daily Star quotes an AC Milan source, saying, “Milan have made a top centre-half their overriding priority.

“Vidic is the one they want – but whether United are willing to do business is another matter."
