Nesta undergoes new surgery

AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta underwent minor surgery on his broken hand on Monday.

The 34-year-old fractured a metacarpal whilst playing against Juventus in the pre-season TIM Trophy.

The club expect Nesta to be sidelined for around seven days but said in a statement on their website: "Nesta will certainly be available for the opening day of the championship."

The Rossoneri open up their Serie A campaign against Lecce on August 29.
