Abbiati Offered 2013 Extension

Milan have confirmed their interest in keeping goalkeeper Christian Abbiati for the long haul and intend to offer him a 2013 contract extension, according to reports.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims lengthy talks between the Italian and new coach Massimiliano Allegri offered assurances for the club as a new and improved deal was agreed.

Abbiati will earn €2million per annum and will pen his new terms on Monday - after Adriano Galliani speaks with Ronaldinho over his proposed stay.

Milan have sent a clear message to Abbiati. They have kept faith in him despite the arrival of Marco Amelia from Genoa. 

There were fears Abbiati would turn his back on the club, but it seems Milan's faith has swayed him to remain.
