Emirates Airline ready to fund transfer swoop

According to a report in Japanese daily newspaper Sports Nippon, AC Milan could be aided in their quest to sign Keisuke Honda after the club’s main shirt sponsor Fly Emirates offered to pay the player’s wages should he be signed during the transfer window. A skilled dribbler with a keen eye for goal and a terrific range of passing, Honda was described by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as ‘a genius’ with the ball last week.  Atletico Madrid and Valencia have also been tipped to swoop for the 24-year-old, although the player's agent told Sport.co.uk last week that his client would be open to a deal in England.

Emirates Airline are reportedly keen on expanding their market share in the Far East and have identified the photogenic Japanese international as a potential brand ambassador.

The national airline of Dubai operates over 2400 passenger flights per week and has experienced huge growth in the last five years with major sponsorship deals being put in place with Arsenal, Paris Saint Germain, Hamburg, the Australian international cricket team as well as countless other sporting associations and events around the world.

It was last week reported in the Italian media that Milan vice-president was keeping tabs on Honda with a view to approaching his Russian counterparts about a move. The player is thought to retain a value in excess of £15 million - a £9 million increase on the outlay paid by the Moscow outfit only six months ago.
