Milan To Shore Up Midfield With Real Madrid Outcast Mahamadou Diarra

Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra could be on his way to Milan, according to sport.it.

The player has often been on the Merengues bench since falling out of favour after a knee injury in late 2008, losing his place in the starting XI. The defensive midfielder is set to hold talks with coach Jose Mourinhoregarding his role in the team, but it is widely expected that he will no longer a part of the plans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Manchester United had shown an interest during the winter, but now Serie A giants Milan are considering him for a starting role in their midfield. Should the bid from Diarra fail, they may turn their attention to Napoli's Walter Gargano.

Meanwhile, both full-backs Massimo Oddo and Marek Jankulovski will leave the club this summer after barely featuring in the 2009-10 campaign.
