I Love David Beckham - Milan Chief Adriano Galliani
Milan chief executive officer Adriano Galliani has given the biggest hint yet that the club are planning to keep David Beckham.
The England midfielder is recovering from an operation to his Achilles tendon, and is unlikely to be back for at least four months.
But despite the blow, Galliani has explained his love for Beckham, increasing speculative reports that an extension on his current loan deal from Los Angeles Galaxy is possible.
"My love for Beckham exploded against Fiorentina last year," Galliani told La Stampa.
"I saw him chase an opposition player for 50 metres when we were winning 2-0 and the referee was about to blow [for full-time].
"He is an extraordinary person."
But, despite Italian reports suggesting a Beckham stay at Milan, Galaxy coach Bruce Arena has other ideas.
"Injuries are an unfortunate part of our game and they are even more disappointing when they happen to a player who was so close to realising his dream of representing his nation at this summer's World Cup," Arena said in a statement issued by the LA Galaxy.
"We will give David our complete support to make sure that he is able to get himself back to full health before he returns to the field.
"David remains an important player for the Galaxy and we look forward to welcoming him back to the club and assisting him in his recovery."
