Juventus & AC Milan consider swapping Arsenal target Felipe Melo for Marco Borriello
Juventus and AC Milan are talking about a possible deal that would see Felipe Melo swap places with Marco Borriello this summer, but it is proving to be a sticky operation for both clubs.
Tuttosport claims Milan want Melo as an ideal fresh force for their midfield, as they look to strengthen after a disappointing. Juventus are playing hardball, but they could soften their response if vice president Adriano Galliani adds Borriello to the deal — something that is highly unlikely.
Galliani and Juve sporting director Giuseppe Marotta are said to have had a meeting to discuss the deal last week, but it stalled as neither could agree terms. Milan tried to offer Mathieu Flamini for Melo, but it was turned down.
The Bianconeri only want Borriello, but Milan seem reluctant to loosen their grip.
Another option for Milan is to value Melo's price and make a bid for him without offering players. Despite his poor campaign, Juve want nothing less than €20 million (£17m) for the Brazilian.
Premie League side Arsenal were interested in the then-Fiorentina player before he made the switch to Turin last summer, but it remains to be seen whether manager Arsene Wenger will renew his interest in Melo during this transfer window.
